La historia de la humanidad en la conquista de los derechos humanos y, entre ellos, el respeto por las libertades de conciencia religiosa y de culto, está escrita en algunas páginas luminosas y oscuras y atroces. A pesar que desde la antigüedad clásica hasta la posmodernidad se ha luchado para que esos derechos inherentes a la condición humana sean una realidad para todos los hombres de todas las latitudes, ese ideal sigue aguardando su concreción. Constituye un desafío a alcanzar.
Summary
The history of the world as regards the conquest of human rights and among them the respect for the liberties of conscience, religion, and worship is written in some enlighted but also in many dark and outrageous pages. In spite of the ongoing struggle—from ancient to postmodern times—in behalf of these inherent rights of the human condition so that they may become real for all men in all countries, it is an ideal still waiting to become real, still a challenge to meet.
