The Metaphorical-Conceptual Base of the Subject in Michel Foucault. A Cognitive Perspective

Scholars and critics were convulsed when Michel Focault declared, in the early eighties, that his authentic study object and interest had not been power, but subjectivation modes. Framed in the cognitive science of philosophical theories’ interdisciplinary paradigm, this article explores patterns that enable to interpret this statement and to revise the status of the subject in the French philosopher’s work. It illuminates thus the processes that concern the elaborating and understanding fundamental philosophical concepts, specially the experiential base of abstract concepts.Downloads
