Resumen

Éste es el primero de dos artículos en los que se propone que la Iglesia Adventista del Séptimo Día debiera completar la revolución teológica iniciada por sus pioneros en el siglo XIX. También, que las generaciones posteriores de adventistas han descuidado la tarea de continuar el crecimiento teológico indispensable para la unidad y la misión global de la iglesia adventista. Debido al descuido del proyecto teológico inicial y a la intrusión de ideas tomadas de la tradición evangélica, la teología adventista se encuentra actualmente en un estado de fragmentación y carente de un crecimiento saludable y consecuente. Sus disciplinas teológicas están desconectadas entre sí, incluso de la vida y de la misión de la iglesia. Los adventistas actuales necesitan urgentemente completar el proyecto teológico de los pioneros para salvaguardar la unidad y la misión de la iglesia adventista.AbstractThis is the first of a series of two articles arguing that the Seventh-day Adventist Church needs to complete the theological revolution initiated by its early pioneers. With the passing of time later generations have neglected the theological growth indispensable to sustain the unity and global mission of a young Church. As consequence of forgetting theological project of early pioneers and the eclectic use of ideas drawn from the Evangelical tradition, Adventist theology stands today underdeveloped and seriously divided. Moreover, theological disciplines are disconnected from each other and from the life and the mission of the Church. Thus, by briefly describing the present state of Adventist theology this article shows the need to finish the theological project of early Adventist pioneers at the scholarly level of university research.
