This article examines the sequence of arguments put forward by Arendt in the secondpart of The Life of the Mind aimed at making it known that the will is the creativespiritual faculty of the person who can be held responsible for his actions and hisbeing. First, Arendtian ideas about the complexities of the will are examined as afaculty crossed by paradoxes and controversies. Then the links discovered by Arendtbetween will and responsibility are made explicit. Finally, the concept of natality asan alternative of assumption of the paradoxical responsibility is investigated.Downloads
