Abstract

After Moses, Samuel can be considered one of the most influential prophets in the history of ancient Israel. Under his spiritual leadership, Israel managed to overcome one of the most unstable and decadent periods in its history. He helped restore a national identity and unity to the people, also laying the spiritual foundations that were the foundation of the prosperity that characterized the reigns of David and Solomon. Much of the success of his work was due to the creation of the schools of the prophets, institutions that, under his direction, formed and prepared a new generation to assume the spiritual leadership of the nation at different levels of society. society. The present study intends, firstly, to study the discipleship model of Samuel and the school of the prophets from an exegetical analysis of certain key biblical texts and a systematic study of Ellen G. White’s descriptions of the school. of the prophets. Based on this study, an attempt will then be made to reflect on the contribution of said model to the practice of theological formation, with special attention to the teaching role and the identity and purpose of theological formation institutions.
